Essential Oils

Aside from eating real, whole foods, one of the most important ways I support my natural healthy lifestyle is with essential oils.

I can’t believe it took me so long to hop on this bandwagon, but I was so busy learning about nutrition that I simply put it off! But I got to the point where I couldn’t put it off anymore. Minimizing toxic load has always been a big deal to me, but it is still one of the most overlooked aspects of well-being. Fortunately, that is changing with the popularity of essential oils!

You may have been hearing a lot lately about essential oils. They’re kind of a big deal these days.

Why? Because people are tired of filling their medicine cabinets and bodies with pills and treatments full of toxic chemicals that create harmful side effects. They are tired of breathing in unsafe fumes from chemical cleaning products and subjecting their skin to highly toxic skin care routines.

They are looking to be empowered with simple, safe, natural solutions.

Natural solutions that are just as, if not more powerful, than the toxic ones. All without the negative side effects and toxic load. They have been used throughout history for healing and well being.

There is a better way to support your health, a better way to treat your skin and a better way to clean. A purer, non-toxic, healthier way.  That way for me, is essential oils. In my own life, I use these oils daily to support every system in my body, promote better sleep, and make over my medicine cabinet, skin care and cleaning routines.

What are essential oils?

If you’ve ever enjoyed the scent of an orange peel as your peel it, or a crushed peppermint, basil or oregano leaf, or smelled a rose, you’ve experienced the aromatic qualities of essential oils. These naturally occurring, organic compounds are found in the seeds, bark, stems, roots, flowers and other parts of plants. Essential oils are highly concentrated. By concentrating the oils of the plants, you separate the most powerful healing compounds of a plant into a single oil.

While many people may know some of the benefits of using essential oils, the main questions they often have are:

Which oils should I use? What about the oils at the supermarket? Do they work? What is the difference? Is there a difference?

If there is one thing you need to know about essential oils it is this. NOT ALL ESSENTIAL OILS ARE CREATED EQUAL. In fact, many of them could be worthless or potentially harmful. Yes, even the oils that say “natural” or “pure”. These are the most commonly sold type of essential oils, but they are overly processed and can lose healing compounds.

I have chosen to use doTerra oils for several reasons (Please note: I DO NOT sell these oils but these are simply the ones I have chosen to use personally so are the brand I can recommend.) :

#1 They actually WORK.

#2 They are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils, which means every oil is put to the highest standard of rigorous testing. They test beyond organic standards and you can be assured that each oil has the highest quantity of active, beneficial constituents and that it is free of contaminants.

#3 They use a model called Co-Impact sourcing. The plants are sourced from all over the world, wherever those plants grow best. Potency begins with the plant itself. They source plants to provide the purest, most potent essential oils possible.
