Thoughts on Life WAY Over 40

I’m feeling a bit reflective, and also very grateful, because I have a birthday this week. And no, it’s not “the big one”, or any of “the big ones”, but it’s getting pretty close to a big one. Basically, I’m not a kid any more (understatement). I’m now WAY over 40, almost 48 to be exact. But I don’t always feel as grown up as I think I should at age 48. I thought I would feel older.

Older and wiser, right? And I do feel wiser. I know a lot of stuff now! But I also still don’t

Why do we quit on our goals?

What are your hopes for this brand spanking new 2017? The clean slate of a New Year gives us permission to go all crazy setting new goals and chasing big dreams right? We get all excited and start off with the best of intentions, but back off the plan when we don’t see the results quick enough. The truth is many of us won’t see our resolutions through again this year. We will have setbacks. We will get frustrated. We will quit.

Setbacks are not failure. They are only setbacks. Don’t let them derail you and keep you from your vision.

Something I’ve learned to…

What’s essential for well-being post-election?

In all honesty, I’ve never been a very political person. It’s not that I lack conviction, but that I quickly become VERY cynical when it comes to politics and over the years have generally been apathetic in my participation in the political process. I’m not proud of this, but I blame this on (in no particular order), my sense that I can’t personally make a difference, a blessed life which leaves me grateful rather than lacking, my desire to maintain a positive attitude, my dislike of internal and external conflict, my need to understand and try to relate to…

Fuzzy Vision, Imperfect Action & the Pursuit of Purpose

Have you noticed a shift in people? It seems like more than ever, people are seeking their unique gifts and callings and are compelled by a strong desire to live them out. I think its part of the reason wellness is such a huge topic these days. It’s not just that people want to lose weight and give themselves the best chance against disease, although these are huge benefits. They want to be well in mind, body and spirit, so they can function at a high level and have the energy and stamina it takes to live fully into their…

15 quotes to inspire your mornings

Lately I’ve been a big advocate for creating a morning routine you love.

I believe wholeheartedly in the power of a beautiful morning routine to create positive change in your life, because this has been true for me. I’m also a quote person! Words have power, and an inspiring quote or verse can encourage and challenge us to live more intentionally. I put together some quotes and verses that have inspired me as I have developed a morning routine.

Choose one you love and make it your morning mantra!

“Morning is when the wick is lit. A flame ignited, with…

Upgrade your day (and life) by creating a morning routine you love

Picture this. It’s 6 am (or maybe even 5 or 5:30!). It’s early, but you are gloriously happy (really!) sitting in your comfy chair or on your back patio, with your coffee. The house is quiet because everyone’s still in bed (smiley face) You are just staring into space, waking up. In the silence you find the space to reflect, pray or just be. This is your time, set aside just for you. Your time to do whatever you want, before the world (and your kids) starts making demands. Want to read your book? Read! Want to…

The connection between food, achieving your goals and living your purpose

Here’s a question for you. Does what you eat have anything to do with your ultimate goal of living an inspired life of meaning and purpose?

You can probably guess what my answer will be. It’s an emphatic YES. And it’s also maybe, maybe not. (Because it’s always what you do with it!) But stick with me.

I believe nutrition has great power. And this blog is all about connecting the dots between what we eat, how we live, how we are inspired and how we live into our purpose. In my humble opinion, based on my own experience, and those of…

The Naturally Nourished Life

I am so excited! Welcome to The Naturally Nourished Life! This blog is something I have both wanted and not wanted to do (I’ll explain later) for about a year. But I have lots of ideas and inspiration and want explore the themes of a nourished lifestyle, with a hope that it makes a difference in the lives of others.

I am very excited…

Do you struggle with this? Resistance

flower-887443_640

I love the image of the flower breaking through the dry, cracked earth, above. We can bloom right where we are, despite all of the forces trying to keep us down, both real and imagined. What keeps so many of us from doing what we want to do? Why do we get so stuck? Why, despite our best intentions for the day, does our most important goal not get met?

I’m not lazy. I don’t think I have ADD. So what is it? Thanks to…
