2020 Vision

The winter solstice is behind us (bring on longer days, slowly but surely!) and a new decade is days away!

As is normal for this time of year, I’m doing a lot of reflecting on the past year and looking ahead to a new year and decade and I bet you are too.

This is the perfect time of year to take stock of what’s really important and to decide where we want to focus in the coming new year.

As fun as they are, if…

7 Unexpected Benefits of Meal Planning

If you struggle to balance your busy day to day with planning and creating healthy meals for yourself or your family, you’re not alone! The number one challenge my clients face is feeling overwhelmed by the time it takes to plan weekly menus and meals.

And let’s be real. Meal planning is not really that much fun for most people. For so many, it’s just not happening. This can lead to too many times through the drive through, grabbing unhealthy take-out, skipping meals altogether and generally just not nourishing yourself well.

And yet this…

Sea Salted Caramel Smoothie

There is not much I like better when it comes to the ultimate combo of sweet and salty than sea salt and caramel. This is basically a smoothie or “milkshake” version of the Sea Salt and Caramel “Nice” Cream recipe here on the blog and it is crazy amazing, if I do say so myself! However, this is even easier to make so I can indulge my sweet/salty cravings in an instant! This makes the perfect healthy treat and is better, healthier, cheaper than any Salted Caramel thing you can find at your local Starbucks (minus…

Aging Healthfully and Purposefully

I’ve just celebrated another milestone birthday. As is common for many people hitting a milestone number sooner than ever expected, I’ve spent quite a bit of time reflecting on the insanely rapid passage of time. How did I get here so fast? Seriously, what’s happening? I’m truly stunned! Stunned!

We can’t stop the march of time, but we can make the most of it, by prioritizing our own health. Physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. It all matters.

Prioritizing our health allows us to run hard after our purpose and to serve the…

Grain Free Cereal

I grew up on cereal. Who didn’t? But in the interest of my health, I’ve given up on the processed stuff. Luckily, it’s easy to replace with a “cereal” made from protein and nutrient rich nuts and seeds and naturally sweetened with coconut, vanilla and cinnamon. I like to top with fresh berries as well! Enjoy!

Grain Free Cereal

2 tablespoons raw almonds

1 tablespoon ground flax

1 tablespoon hemp seed

2 tablespoons shredded coconut

½ teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon cinnamon

Add nuts, seeds, coconut…

Tips for the Healthiest Holidays

Take a minute to step aside from the holiday swirl of your life right now.

Read this blog post as a reminder to slow down and carve out some time and space to truly nourish yourself this holiday season. At this time of year more than ever, we tend to abandon our own self care and goals, in the name of getting it all done, perfectionism and even holiday cheer. But we can easily find ourselves losing touch, running out of steam and not supporting ourselves nutritionally or spiritually. There is a certain kind of balance that needs to happen…

Staying Positive (Even When You Don’t Feel That Way)

I’m struggling with my positive vibe right now. Let’s just put that out there. And I don’t take this struggle lightly. After all, my mission in life and my job is to inspire and motivate others toward their healthiest life and most vibrant well-being. When I don’t feel vibrant myself, this becomes more challenging for me and I don’t do what I’m supposed to do. So, I’m working hard to practice what I preach, and to implement strategies to stay optimistic and hopeful despite circumstances. To stay in a positive place rather than succumb to toxic negativity. To rise…

Self Care: Necessity not Luxury

An empty lantern provides no light…
Now there’s some obvious truth. But we’re going to think about it a little deeper. If you want to think of it in the more cliché version “You cannot pour from an empty cup”, you may. However, cliché or not, Still. True. Here’s a little post about YOU being a lantern worth lighting (or, if you prefer, a cup worth filling!)

It’s just way too easy to put ourselves last, over-commit and mismanage our time, with the frantic pace of life sometimes. Whether we’re in a full-time position of caring for others, or working to…

Imagine if one subtle mindset shift could have a powerful effect on your decisions around food and your willingness to choose the foods that will best support the health you want.
